Keep a running log you can learn from

A useful log remembers more than the finish time. It puts the run next to the rest of the week, the conditions outside and the notes you made afterwards.

Record enough to make the next decision

Keep the date, distance, pace and type of session together. Add notes about the workout, shoes, strength work or anything that helps explain how it went. You can enter runs yourself or connect Strava to import activities.

There is room for more than one workout on a day. An easy morning run and an evening session can stay separate rather than becoming one misleading daily average.

Review weeks, not isolated runs

The history groups sessions by week and month. Weekly totals make it easier to notice changes in volume, while workout categories help you see where demanding sessions sit among easy days.

The plan ahead is separate from the completed history. That distinction matters when a run changes: a missed session should not quietly become completed mileage.

Keep conditions next to pace

Wind, temperature, elevation and terrain can change the meaning of an average pace. The workout details keep these conditions with the run, and an estimated pace in ideal conditions offers another way to compare sessions.

Use your notes and the original pace alongside that estimate. A single number cannot capture sleep, fatigue, route exposure or the purpose of the session.

A simple review routine

At the end of a week, check what you completed, what changed from the plan and whether next week still fits your available time. Start with the free log and planner; Pro adds deeper fitness and threshold views.

  • Check completed distance before planning more.
  • Look back at notes from comparable sessions.
  • Adjust the next week to what actually happened.
